Marino Moller, Corporate Heros
Date: As seen in The Cairns Post - Wednesday 19th December 2007
Marino Moller Lawyers, local law firm taking Corporate action to support Australia’s Climate Change policy by supporting the Australian Rainforest Foundation.
Roger Phillips, CEO of Australian Rainforest Foundation has received an early Christmas present. Rather than hold an annual client Christmas party, Marino Moller Lawyers presented the foundation with a cheque for $2500 as part of their commitment to the foundations Hero project. Managing Partner, Charlie Marino, since making the announcement to Marino Moller Lawyers clients and staff, has received tremendous support and congratulations.
“I really believe that we have a responsibility to help strengthen our community and I know our clients support these initiatives” Brett Moller, partner at the firm. Protecting and extending Australia’s rainforest is one of the most important steps we can take in conserving our environment for the long term.
With 5 offices in the Far North, Marino Moller Lawyers position themselves as regional lawyers making a difference. “Being part of the community is more than just providing a legal service – it’s about giving back in many ways. We have supported the ARF for many years including conducting pro-bono work for the non profit organization.”
Brett Moller extended a challenge to other firms in Cairns to support the foundation whether though the Hero2 project or a one off company donation. The Hero2 ‘payroll’ giving program encourages employers and employees to stand side-by-side to make a significant long-term investment in our environment and the planet’s future. Business and employees, like Marino Moller lawyers, can become Hero2s with tax-deductible donations through their payroll.
The Australian Rainforest Foundation is dedicated to education, research and habitat rehabilitation for Australia’s rainforest. Patrons for the foundation include Peter Cosgrove, former chief if the Australian Defence Force.
